Landscape and Plein Air

Painting outdoors allows me to work directly within the shifting conditions of light, atmosphere, and weather. These plein air paintings are created on location, where observation and immediacy guide each decision as the landscape changes from moment to moment.

Working quickly, I respond to the essential structure of the scene—its color relationships, rhythms, and patterns of light. The physical experience of being present in the landscape becomes part of the painting process, shaping the marks, palette, and movement of the brush.

Rooted in the long tradition of plein air painting, these works seek to capture not only the appearance of a place, but the fleeting sensations of time, light, and atmosphere that make each moment in the landscape unique.
